It's hard to believe I met Jen & Kirk back in 2014 to photograph their engagement. It feels like forever ago, but at the same time it feels like just yesterday. I photographed this couple who were freshly engaged, before I actually started my business. Don't get me wrong, I've been a photographer for 9 years so I was comfortable photographing them back then, but I was new-ish to Colorado and still getting my photography in order to start a business in a new state. They trusted me with such a special time in their lives way back then. But oh so much has happened since then.

Jen & Kirk got married a year or so after that in Chicago, spent some time traveling and then living in Washington D.C. I lost touch with them so I was super surprised when she emailed me to tell me they were expecting a baby girl in February and wanted me to be their photographer! I was shocked but remembered them well. I couldn't wait to see them all these years later, find out what they had been up to, and of course meet and photograph this little girl!

The day came, Nixon made her debut into the world! I had the privilege of going to their adorable Denver home for the newborn photo's. Sometimes in the older Denver homes it can be a challenge to find good lighting. It was no different with Jen & Kirk's home, but when I saw this unique hallway, I was obsessed. I did almost the entire session here. Everything about it was perfect. I love the character of Denver homes, and this home was special to this family. They actually bought this home over 7 years ago. It was where Jen & Kirk dated, got engaged, spent some married life, and now welcomed a baby into this home. The meaning of that is priceless and these photo's will give them memories to last a lifetime.

Nixon was nothing but an angel for her very first photoshoot. She slept the entire session and wore the cutest little wrap and headband to show off her girly side :) We even moved to the couch for a family photo with big (dog) brother, who also happened to be in the engagement photo's in 2014! I absolutely loved photographing this little family and cannot wait to photograph them for all their future milestones! Congratulations Jen & Kirk, I know you two will make excellent parents!
