Cellan & Tessa | Vacation in Colorado | Winter Mountain Maternity | Surprise Proposal | Boulder
These two are absolutely adorable and so in love! I was so excited to have gotten the opportunity to photograph them! They live in Florida, and told me all about their vacation plans to Colorado, and how they wanted a snowy maternity photoshoot while here. They were getting away (just the two of them) for the holidays, before their first baby arrives. They told me they were staying at the St. Julien Hotel in Boulder, one of my very favorite hotels and how they were going to see a show and take it easy on this trip. I knew the perfect location for their photoshoot, not too far from the hotel, on Flagstaff road. It is breathtaking there. Usually you can find quite a lot of people up there, but not this time. We had the whole place to ourselves and I loved every minute of it!
We got so lucky with our first snowfall of winter happening during their photoshoot! It was very cold, but very worth it for these photos! Since Cellan & Tessa are from Florida, I was worried they would be too cold for this, but they said they were really hoping for snow! Phew, I was so relieved because I absolutely love maternity sessions in snow! The entire week and days leading up to December 23rd, it was warm, like 60's and sunny. So this was a true Christmas miracle.
Tessa is 7 months pregnant, with the cutest little baby belly and she is expecting a girl! These two talked so much about how they were really hoping for a girl, since they loved the name Marley Harper. They will be such perfect parents to this little girl! And can we talk about Tessa's maternity dresses for a second!! Holy moly absolutely stunning. They were so perfect for a winter shoot. Of course she got them at a boutique in Florida, because all the best things come from little boutiques, right! And I always love hearing about people supporting small businesses. This girl totally rocked the winter maternity look!
Photographing in the Evergreen trees is peaceful and magical, and it's where we could really see the snow. But when I took them to see the views across the street, they were blown away. Little did I know, Cellan was planning to propose to Tessa, and this would be the very spot he would pop the question, the very next day. Part of me (the selfish part) really wishes he would have done it during this photoshoot so I could capture it on camera, but I totally understand wanting to be private. You can imagine, when I found out the next day through instagram, I was in total shock and excitement for them! I know these two are going to have an amazing life together, and be amazing parents to their little girl! I hope I get to photograph them again someday, in their next vacation to Colorado!
