Laura & Dimitar | Elope in Colorado | Colorado Small Weddings | Ouray, Colorado Wedding Photogra

Oh Laura & Dimitar. Where do I begin? When they first contacted me and started explaining their vision for their wedding, I knew it would be hard to beat. They talked about their love for Colorado & adventure, the mountains, and each other. Both are from out of state, but knew they wanted their closest family members to visit Colorado for their intimate wedding. If you haven't been to Ouray Colorado, what you need to know is that it is not easy to get to. Laura & Dimitar's families flew into Denver International Airport, rented cars, and made the 6+ hour drive through the mountains to this little town nicknamed "Switzerland of America". When people think of eloping in Colorado, most probably think of Rocky Mountain National Park, or so many other amazing places close to Denver. BUT Colorado has SO MUCH to offer! Just a little drive away, and you will see totally different epic mountain ranges accompanied by epic mountain towns! What you also need to know, is you will fall in LOVE with everything about Ouray. The mountains are epic, the town is quaint, oh and there are hot springs! Which I am obsessed with. One more thing, if you go in July, you will see the most gorgeous wild flowers you have ever seen in your life. Which brings me to Laura's bouquet. She picked up some wild flowers from a local grocery store and made it herself! I was impressed.

Quick back story- Laura & Dimitar were going to have their wedding at Maroon Bells in Aspen, Colorado. When they found out they don't allow weekend weddings, they moved it to Ouray. I was not mad! This was my second time visiting Ouray, so I knew exactly what I was in for. I could not WAIT to go back. I contacted my assistant to come with me, booked a little hotel room for 2 nights and made a trip out of it! We hiked, explored waterfalls, ate delicious food (photographed a wedding) and tried out TWO different hot springs. It was epic. And much needed for our adventurous souls.

Ok, back to these love birds. Their love for each other is out of this world. As you can probably see from the photo's, the way they look at each other says it all. They could talk for hours about anything, they giggle, they're passionate, and they share the same interests. I'm so happy they met, the world needs more people like these two! I photographed Laura & Dimitar last winter for their engagement photo's and they still had these big old smiles on their faces. They light up a room like there's no one watching, and don't really care if anyone is. They get lost in each other, and it is easy for anyone to see.

I don't know if you noticed, but Laura's wedding dress is grey! I had never seen a grey wedding dress, ever. These day's I am becoming a little obsessed with unique wedding dresses! This one looked like it was made for her! She bought it from a second hand wedding dress store in Denver. I had all the heart-eyes! Gosh, I learn so much from every wedding experience I have! How cool is my "job"?!

At 9am, I met Laura & Dimitar at Ridgeway State Park. She was finishing her final details in a small bathroom while I was setting him up to see his soon to be wife for the first time. He was nervous, he was giddy but couldn't wait to see her. Everything about this wedding was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. They said their vows, they cried, they laughed, they kissed, while surrounded by some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life. This is a once in a life time love in what seemed like a fairy-tale. I am ecstatic that Laura & Dimitar chose me to be their wedding photographer for their small but perfect wedding! I can only hope that I get to work with these two in the future as they grow their family, and that I can find more couples just like them. Because I sure do love this.
