Studio Milestone Mini Sessions | What To Expect And How To Prepare For Your Child's Milestone In

Whether your child is turning 6 months or 6 years, in-studio milestone photoshoots are always a great and fun idea! These sessions are completely customizable- the sky's the limit! Keep it simple and let your child show off their playful personality, bring in props, activities, or a cake for them to play with! I love seeing where each families individual creative ideas bring them for their child's photos. I have two indoor natural light studio options, one in Longmont and one in Boulder. Both are beautiful and lightly furnished with a bed, chairs, couch and more. Need me to pick up something for you on your way to the studio- just ask! I'm here to make this an easy, FUN and memorable experience for your family and child.

Milestone sessions can be all about your child, which would fall under my "milestone mini" session, or include siblings and parents, which would fall under my regular "milestone" session. If you just can't get enough of your baby and want to document all of his or her days, perhaps my "grow with me" sessions would fit you best! This is my most popular package which includes 4 milestone sessions at a super discounted rate!

Okay- so you've booked your child's studio milestone photography session with me, now what? Here are some tips and tricks and how to prepare for your session. First let's design your session. As mentioned earlier, do you like the idea of something plain and simple to just show off your child's playful personality, something fun with colorful props or balloons, or let your kid get messy with a cake/doughnut/pancake smash? I find Pinterest to be a great resource for getting all kinds of exciting ideas! Love a session I have shown on this blog? Let me know for inspiration :)

For any milestone session, feel free to have up to two outfits for your child. Doing a quick outfit change will give great variety for your photoshoot. If you choose to do a cake smash, I will photograph your baby for a few minutes before the messy part. This can either be in the same outfit or different one, completely up to you. For your milestone MINI session, plan on being in the studio for 20-30 minutes. For your milestone session, plan on being in the studio for up to an hour.

What to bring with you- your child ;) a bag with your child's second outfit, a toy or two that make noise to get their attention, water, juice or snacks, and any props or balloons you'd like to add to the photoshoot.

What to bring if you're planning a cake/doughnut/pancake smash- your child of course ;) your child's second outfit (if you choose) plus a change of clothes for after the cake smash, water juice or snacks, a favorite toy that makes noise, a towel, wipes, and the cake! You will be responsible for providing your child's own cake. King Soopers, Wholefoods or any local bakery will be perfect! Try to refrain from dark colored frosting or fondant. Bring a container to bring home any unused cake if you'd like to keep it.

Please plan on arriving early to your session. These in-studio sessions are scheduled by the hour so it's important that we start on time :) Plan for any unexpected traffic, finding parking, and a bathroom use before we start your photoshoot.

That's all! Now the fun part begins :) Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!
