I just love a good urban photoshoot once in awhile! Especially in the winter and especially with a family as cute as these guys! I'm not gonna lie, it's been a hot minute since I've had a photoshoot that doesn't include a nature backdrop. Yes, you could say that is my "specialty" and I do love a good mountain backdrop or some dense evergreen trees a lot of the time. This maternity/family session totally got my creative juices flowing, and I'm so glad!!! Since I don't photograph in Denver with buildings as a backdrop often, I got the challenge to think outside of the box. I loved every minute of this! Honestly, I have photographed at this location many times and when we first arrived, I hadn't even planned on using this space in the park. It's natural for me to walk straight over to the trees, BUT, when I saw the gorgeous outfits that the Howard family showed up in and saw the colors of this building, I thought it'd be the perfect backdrop for them! Guess what, they loved it too! If you know me, you know I don't like "bare" trees in the winter. I almost always find a good mountain location or evergreen tree location if it's winter time, but after this session, now all I want to do is shoot with cool buildings as the backdrop! Also, it's so "Denver" and I love that! Back in the day I used to often shoot at Denver's Civic Center Park, Denver's City Park or Denver's Cheesman Park. I have no clue why I don't anymore, but I think that is going to change today! So, who's up for a good ole urban session with me this winter?! :)

I adore this family! One of my long time clients is good friends with these guys and referred them to me! I am SO glad they did and so glad I get the honor of knowing them and documenting some awesome milestones in their lives! I first met them last spring for a quick family session, now expecting their second baby girl in the spring, they contacted me for maternity and newborn photoshoots! They are the sweetest and most easy going family! I seriously can't get enough of photographing them and spending time getting to know them! Each time I see this little girl she gets bigger. She is going to make the best big sister to a little baby girl. I can already picture them playing together as they continue to grow and get older and come into their own personalities.

I am so excited the H family is welcoming another girl. They are already such great girl parents and adding another one will be so perfect for them. I'll be meeting the newest addition to this family very soon for their newborn photos, and I can't wait!
